SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION & PROCEDURE

           

 

Scholarship Eligibility: 

The Oregon Cattlemen’s Stewardship Fund (OCSF) Scholarships are available to current Oregon Cattlemen's Association members and members of their family.  Applicant must be at college sophomore, junior, senior or graduate level and enrolled full-time at a community college or university for the 10/11 academic year. All majors may apply; however, some relevance to the livestock industry must be demonstrated.

 

The application deadline is April 30, 2010.  As many as five scholarships totaling up to $5,000 will be awarded for the 10/11 academic year.  Two additional $500 scholarships sponsored by Western Stockmen’s & Simplot will be awarded to applicants for winter and spring term 2011. All recipients will be notified of their award by mail no later than June 4, 2010. OCSF will make payments directly to the institution to pay for tuition. 

 

 Instructions:

 

1.                  Application Deadline is April 30, 2010

o   The attached application must be completed in full and postmarked on or before April 30, 2010 to be considered by the Scholarship Committee.  Applications postmarked or brought to the office after April 30, 2010 will not be considered.

 

o   If applications are delivered in person, applicant must request a “received and dated” statement by the staff individual accepting the application.  This may be achieved by having the individual receiving the application sign their name and dating the application cover sheet in pen.

 

o   Acceptance in person or by mail does not guarantee eligibility.  Applicant is responsible for completing application in full and seeing that all requested materials are postmarked or brought to the office by the application deadline of April 30, 2010.

 

o   Applicant must use a current application form.  All application forms will have a current date reflecting the academic year for which the application applies.  This date can be located at the top of each application form. Applicants must use a current application form for his/her application to be considered

 

o   If applicant wishes to use additional paper to complete the application, that is acceptable as long as the question being answered is clearly identified and the same scholarship format is utilized.

 

2.                  Transcripts

o    Transcript of the applicant’s last full year in school must accompany the application.  In other words, grade reports for a full academic year of schoolwork must be made available to the scholarship committee.  If more than one school was attended in during the last year, applicant must submit transcripts from all schools.

 

3.                  References (optional)

o   If you wish you may attach letters of references, which may be used by the OCSF Scholarship Committee.

 

4.                  Interview

o   An interview may be requested.

 

5.                  Signature and Authorization

o   Your signature is an essential part of this application.  Applications without signatures are ineligible.

 Applicant certifies that the information provided in this application form is true.  Applicant agrees that if the applicant is selected to receive a scholarship, applicant will attend the institution listed above and will pursue the major course of study listed in this application for the duration of the academic year.

 

Applicant understands and agrees that failure to comply with the above may render applicant ineligible for the scholarship granted and may be required to return any remaining unused portions of   the scholarship award to the OCSF.

 

It is understood that submission of this application gives permission to the Oregon Cattlemen’s Stewardship Fund and the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association to utilize your name and or picture for promotional purposes of the OCSF Scholarship Fund.
