The leather-bound hard-cover book was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Oregon Cattlemen's Association, which was formed in 1913 in Baker City. The first section of the book, about Oregon's cattle ranching history, was written and illustrated by Mike Hanley, the well-known historian, artist and rancher from Jordan Valley, Oregon. Next, the book features one and two-page stories and color photos of over 80 ranches, scattered across Oregon. Also included is the history of the organization, its challenges and accomplishments, and Oregon's cattle ranching heritage. In a section called In Their Own Words, past-presidents, the current president and the executive director of the Association wrote essays about their time in office; the challenges, triumphs and memorable moments.
