What has the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association has done for you lately?

 

OCA has a Political Advocate and full time staff working daily protecting the interests of cattle producers;

 

OCA is working diligently to protect private property rights and to prevent unjust takings by stopping legislation such as Oregon’s Senate Bill 1060 that would have allowed access for recreation on private property along water ways. 

 

OCA is engaged in the process of USDA developing a frame work for animal disease traceability in the United States to ensure it will not be a burden to producers.

 

 OCA is promoting, a positive image of cattle producers and their operations to the public, with funding from the Oregon Beef Council, through desk side media briefings, cattlemen’s speaking engagements; and press releases;

 

OCA created and is distributing three “Land of Contrasts -Ranchings Commitment to Oregon” DVDs featuring cattle producers’ contributions to communities and the environment with funding from the Oregon Beef Council,

 

OCA is sponsoring the upcoming International Association of Culinary Professionals Conference and working to procure Oregon beef product to showcase the quality of Oregon beef;

 

OCA initiated the first ever Pacific NW Young Cattlemen’s Conference and Tour with over 120 participants who toured premier beef industry facilities and heard from nationally renowned speakers;
 

OCA is working to increase USDA inspected meat processing accessibility for Oregon producers and local product availability for consumers.

 

OCA supports a competitive college scholarship fund available to all members and their families;


OCA supports funding of research important to the cattle industry;

 

OCA provides the Oregon Beef Producer and electronic updates keeping members abreast of current cattle industry information;

 

OCA holds two annual membership meetings providing information and speakers on the most current industry issues;

 

OCA is supporting the intervention by permittees in several different lawsuits concerning the elimination of grazing on public lands in Oregon.

 

OCA participates in legislative committees representing cattle producers’ interests;

 

OCA opposed Ballot Measures 66 and 67 to stop job killing taxes.

OCA represents cattle producers’ interests on various boards, committees and working groups;

 

OCA works diligently to uphold Oregon’s water laws, such as the prior appropriation doctrine adopted in1909, and the rights of property owners;

 

OCA is cultivating relationships with Oregon Congressional Delegates and informing them on national issues affecting the cattle industry.
