(December 27, 2012 – Salem, OR) – The 2013 Pacific Northwest Young Cattlemen’s Conference (PNW YCC) is right around the corner! All cattlemen between the ages of 18 and 40 years of age are encouraged to join in and take advantage of this FREE educational event that includes lunch, dinner and dancing at the end of the day! All this on top of a full line-up of industry speakers and stops along the way surely makes this event a must to attend! The tour begins at 8am January 18th at the Red Lion Hotel in Pendleton, OR and will make stops at Easterday Feedlot, Western Stockmen’s Retail Store, AgriNorthwest Grain Elevator and Export Facility, Crop Production Services’ Fertilizer Plant and Lorenzen Ranches. Lunch will be provided by Western Stockmen’s and dinner and entertainment by Lorenzen Ranches.
As stated by Ron Rowan of Beef Northwest and long time organizer of this event, “The Pacific Northwest Young Cattlemen’s Tour is the first of its kind. The industry support and young cattlemen participation has far exceeded expectations. It’s been a great way for our industry to give back to the young cattlemen and for the young cattlemen to have hands on experience.” We look forward to continuing the momentum on this token event with last year’s registration topping 120 young cattlemen! This year’s event is especially exciting as attendees will be asked to provide input and suggestions on the very first “Young Cattlemen’s Need-to-Know Industry Seminar” to be held winter of 2014.
While in route industry speakers and sponsors will talk about topics specific to young cattlemen such as risk management, employment and internship opportunities. Event sponsors include the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association, Oregon Beef Council, Washington Cattlemen’s Association, Beef Northwest Feeders, Western Stockmen’s, Agri Beef Co. and Lorenzen Ranches. Representatives from each group will be in attendance! As an added bonus the 9th Annual Cattlemen’s Workshop in La Grande will be held in conjunction with the PNW YCC and will begin at 9am on January 19th at the Blue Mountain Convention Center. No pre-registration is required for the workshop and all Conference registrants are encouraged to attend this FREE event with lunch included! There will be no bus on January 19th, those attending the workshop will need to provide their own transportation.
