(Salem, Ore. – January 27, 2014) The Oregon Cattlemen’s Stewardship Fund (OCSF) Scholarships are now available to current Oregon Cattlemen’s Association members and members of their family through April 30th, 2014. Applicant must be a college sophomore, junior, senior or graduate level and enrolled full-time at a community college or university for the 14/15 academic year. All majors may apply; however, some relevance to the livestock industry must be demonstrated.
“Last year I was humbled to receive a scholarship from the Oregon Cattlemen’s Stewardship Fund. The support for higher education within our industry is astounding, and I look forward to staying involved for many years to come!” Stated Melissa Millhollin, one of seven scholarship receipts for the 2013-2014 academic year and now a senior at Oregon State University finishing her bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences.
Up to $6,000 will be distributed through the OCSF Scholarship Program; as many as five scholarships totaling up to $5,000 will be awarded directly from the OCSF, as well as two $500 scholarships sponsored by Western Stockmen’s and Simplot. Recipients will be notified of their award by mail no later than June 6, 2014.
OCSF Scholarship recipients will be announced during the President’s Banquet at Oregon Cattlemen’s Association & Washington Cattlemen’s Association Joint Mid-Year Conference this coming June. Recipients are encouraged to attend this banquet and will receive complimentary one-day registration and ticket to the Joint Mid-Year Event. The Oregon Cattlemen’s Stewardship Fund (OCSF) will make payments directly to the institution to pay for tuition.
